SL5 Elite VS Collegians
The State League 5 side came up against Collegians on what was a brilliant Saturday afternoon. The team had high hopes – as we were locked into the finals, the team thought we would show Collegians why!
With Nick Hinneberg back into the side – from about 8 weeks umpiring, and Will Yenken also back – our defence was extremely strong! All we needed to do was be able to put some in the back of the net…
We started off strong – dominating possession, and winning 8 short corners in the first half – unfortunately we could only convert 1, but with some practice this Wednesday night, that % will certainly improve.
Charlie Buxton put in a drag flick – which after 4 weeks out of the game, and only flying back from LA two hours before the game was no mean feat. Welcome back Charlie!
Dave Wright was also dangerous down front – being in the wright spot at the wright time – he converted one to make the score 2-0 at half time!
With some strong words said at half time – we wanted to come out even stronger in the second half – and really put a score on the board! Unfortunately we didn’t but finish off as strong as we would have liked – but our defence stayed strong and kept a clean sheet.
Final score 2-0 our way!
Thanks must also go to Killer – who filled in for us, after Waz was a late withdrawal – as his wife got sick and he did the right thing and took her to hospital…
Big game this week against St Bernards (2nd on the ladder, we are 3rd) so we are looking forward to a big game!
